On Wouaf IT, an event is called a Wouaf.
You can add as many Wouafs as you like, the procedure is very simple:
First, create your account on Wouaf IT from the login page.
Two types of accounts are available: If you have a Facebook account, click the blue "Login with Facebook" button and enter your login information in the Facebook window that opened. Alternatively, you can create a Wouaf IT account by clicking on the green button "New Wouaffer? Create your profile!" and then, enter your credentials.
Once you have created your account, you can create a Wouaf by clicking on the icon at the bottom right of the map. First place the map at the location of your event and click "OK". A page will then open which will allow you to fill in all the information of your event.
There are a few:
You can not. If you have made a mistake or you want to update a Wouaf, you must delete and recreate it.
A Wouaf must remain an event fast to consult and ephemeral. It is in this perspective that was thought Wouaf IT and constraints arise directly from these choices. If you wish, you can add a explanatory comment or a link "More" to your Wouaf.
No, we do not enter your events manually. To add your events on Wouaf IT you have to create your account and insert them, it takes only one minute and the whole process is explained on this page.
We regularly import a number of content sources available on the Internet
including public events published on the pages of Facebook.
If you are the administrator of one of these pages, you can regain control of your events by following these steps:
If this does not meet your need (if your Facebook account is a personal account but it is attached to a separate pro page or multiple pages), we unfortunately do not yet have an automatic way to import your Facebook events to a "pro" account or several separate accounts on Wouaf IT.
However, you can create one or more classic Wouaf IT accounts with the names and email addresses of your companies and enter your events directly into Wouaf IT.
Do not hesitate to contact us in case of problems!
Facebook events are imported once a week.
Once a Facebook event has been imported into our system, it will no longer be updated, even if the original event is changed to Facebook.
However, once you have created your account on Wouaf IT using the button "Login with Facebook" you can manage your events directly from Wouaf IT.
There may be several reasons why a Facebook event did not appear on Wouaf IT:
In any case, you can always create your account on Wouaf IT and enter the missing events yourself!
No Wouaf IT is free to use and will remain free for individuals and small businesses!
The position of the map when opening the site depends on the position returned to us by your web browser when you visit the site.
Depending on the browser used, depending on your service provider and depending on whether or not you agree to be geolocated at the opening of the site, the latter may be more or less precise.
For reasons of privacy we refuse to carry out a more aggressive geographical tracking of our users, so we can do nothing to improve your position when opening the site.
Eventually yes, Wouaf IT aims to cover all countries, but we will slowly ramp up. You can already create Wouafs anywhere you want and we will add other sources of content in different countries little by little.
The website has been designed to be perfectly compatible with mobile. Furthermore, if you use Chrome on Android, it will offer to install Wouaf IT on your Home screen from the second launch in 24h interval. Finally, eventually, native applications are planned for Android and iOS, but there is no specific timetable for this.
The idea behind Wouaf IT dates back to 2012, during a drive in the countryside with family.
We crossed a stray dog on the road. It seemed visibly lost and ran away when we wanted to approach him.
We thought that perhaps his owner was only a few minutes away looking for him but we had no easy way to warn him.
It is from this story that born the idea behind Wouaf IT: Providing a service that allows everyone to be able to tell people geographically close "Hey! Here there is something happening now".
This idea took time to mature to become the current site after several months of development. So we named "Wouaf" a publication on the site in reference to this dog, which hopefully, found his owner.
Simply "woaf it" 😋
We can give you access to the Wouaf IT API. Depending on the nature of your content, such access may be not free. Currently Wouaf IT is a non-profit project. That said, it generates infrastructure costs. If you get profits from your content, it is normal to ask for a contribution in return. For more information, contact us by describing what you want to import.
We love you too
The development of Wouaf IT and the visibility of the events published there depend primarily on the audience of the site. So you can talk about Wouaf IT around you and on your social networks. Word of mouth is the best help!
We also need good will to translate the site into different languages, including Spanish, German, Italian, etc. If you would like to contribute to the translations, please contact us
Finally, you can check out the Github project page, some additional technical infos are in it.
